Rebuilt the Pride as a true network across Africa and its diaspora. He joined the Great Circuit, the Second Circuit and every cell that had come after them into a single standing order, the modern form of what the Pride has always called the Long Pride. In the mid-1990s, he opened the hidden manuscript houses of Walata and Chinguetti, where Kadiatou-Camara's copies of the written Roll had lain for six hundred years, and brought them back into Pride hands. The Timbuktu copy, lost in 1593, was not among them. In 2000, he held a gathering in Dakar, the first time every arm of the Pride had sat in a room since Gao in 1450. He was killed in 2009, in a night fight in Paris, against a brood that had made its home in the market for stolen antiquities.
