Agnes Faulkner (1494-1558) was a laundress from Rochdale, Lancashire, born in 1494 CE. She was the daughter of Godfrey Danby and Quenild Faulkner, and grew up in the wool farms, abbey lands and stone-walled moors of Lancashire. Agnes belonged to the Faulkner family of vampire slayers, the Lancastrian bloodline that keeps the Red Ledger of vampires taken. Agnes came from the cadet branch of the Faulkner line descended from Hugh Faulkner, who opened the Red Ledger in 1455. She grew up alongside a sibling, Piers Faulkner (1493).
Though she was never called as a slayer, Agnes was part of the Faulkner family's hunting life from childhood. She knew every hunter in the family by their footsteps.
Agnes lived through the northern risings that followed the dissolution of the monasteries. She also lived through the years of religious upheaval under the Tudor crown. The Faulkner family's ledgers for those years record her part in the work, from watches kept to warnings passed on. Agnes spent most of her life around Rochdale, and the plague centuries left its mark on her work as a laundress.
Like most of the Faulkners, Agnes held that the Guest who escaped at Towton in 1461 was a Yorkist favour, never a Lancastrian failing. She died in 1558 CE of the sweating sickness, aged 64. Agnes Faulkner appears on the House Tree of the Faulkner and Proctor families as a relative of the Faulkner bloodline, part of the story of the Lancashire slayers in the Slayerverse, from the ledgers of 1455 to the present night.
