Carmen Hernandez

Frontline soldier slayer of Mesoamerica, known as the Pale Flame. Trusted craft: Breach Drill. Feud with Emiliano Mendoza never resolved.

Born in 1556 CE at Ahcoic, a walled town in Mesoamerica, Carmen Hernandez lived as a man-at-arms until the war found her. The slayer mantle came in 1574 CE, when her sister was taken and she walked into the vampires' hall alone and walked out. What Carmen lacked in gifts was covered by Breach Drill, and a ash-wood stake and iron mace that never left the belt. Across 35 years Carmen ended a 13-year reign of terror in the hills around Ahyaculi. The rivalry with Emiliano Mendoza, the Hollow Tide, never reached a final reckoning; Carmen died in 1609 CE quietly, after passing the mantle on.
