A hunter, not a builder. Menkheperu-Sobek was a marsh guide from the Fayum, the great lake basin southwest of Memphis, and he spent his 37 years as Maahes hunting a single enemy: a vampire nest that had taken root among the reed beds and the great temples of the crocodile god.
The brood fed on travellers, fishermen and pilgrims for decades before the Pride understood what was happening. Menkheperu-Sobek tracked it through the marshes for eleven years, mapping its hunting grounds and its hiding places, and brought it down in one night of fire among the reeds. He died in the final battle, but the nest died with him.
What he left behind: the first full map of a vampire nest, drawn from the inside, which later Maahes used as the pattern for hunting broods in every age.
