The current bearer of the mantle. The mantle chose them two years after Abdoulaye-Sane was killed, and they have held it for fifteen years. They are the first Maahes in over a thousand years to hold the mantle with Full resin, and the first since the Scattering to hold it with the groves in Pride hands.
The Modern Maahes is deliberately left open for now. The history of the Roll fixes the facts that the character must fit inside, and nothing else.
What cannot change:
- They took the mantle in 2011, two years after Abdoulaye-Sane's death.
- They hold it at Full resin, and the groves are in Pride hands.
- They inherit the Long Pride, the written Roll's recovered copies and the lost Timbuktu copy as an open question.
- They are bound by the Rule of the Empty Hand, so they hold no state office.
- They are the one holder in the Roll whose story has not ended.
What is open:
- Their name, age, gender and background.
- Their seat, which could be any city in the Long Pride's network.
- Whether they are known to the other characters of the Slayerverse, and how.
- Their relationship to the Children of Apep as they exist in the present day.
- What they carry that no earlier Maahes carried.
