Carbon-Plate Shoulder Guards

A pair of curved, lightweight carbon-fibre plates strapped over each shoulder, angled to deflect an overhead strike or a glancing blow away from the joint rather than absorbing it directly, while leaving the arms themselves unencumbered.

They cover only the shoulder itself, so the upper arm and collarbone remain exposed, and they provide little benefit against an attack from directly below or the side.
