Infrared Perimeter Sensor

A passive sensor that detects the heat signature of a person or vehicle crossing its field of view, working just as reliably in complete darkness as broad daylight since it reacts to heat rather than visible light at all.

It can occasionally be triggered by a large animal or a sudden shift in ambient temperature, so its alerts are best treated as a prompt to check rather than absolute confirmation.
