Assault Rifle

A select-fire rifle capable of switching between single shots and controlled automatic bursts, giving a wielder far more sustained firepower than any sidearm or bow could offer. It represents a serious step up in lethality and is treated accordingly by most operators who own one - a weapon for confrontations that have already escalated well past anything else in their loadout could handle.

Its size and report make stealth impossible once it is fired, and its ammunition needs and recoil demand real training to use safely and effectively, so it typically stays holstered or slung until a situation has genuinely called for it.
