Bo Staff

A long, straight staff with no weighted head or edge, relying entirely on leverage, reach, and rotational speed to generate striking force. Its length gives a wielder a significant reach advantage over almost any hand-held weapon, and its lack of a bladed edge makes it one of the least immediately threatening-looking weapons a fighter can carry.

That same length becomes a liability at very close range, where it is difficult to bring to bear effectively - a bo staff fighter generally works hardest to keep an opponent at the ideal distance rather than letting a fight collapse into a grapple.
