Collapsible Spear

A telescoping spear built from nested metal sections, collapsing down to a length easily carried on a belt or across the back and locking rigid at full extension with a twisting motion. It gives a wielder a genuine reach weapon without the constant inconvenience a fixed-length spear would carry through a normal patrol.

Its point is effective at controlling distance and driving back multiple opponents, but the weapon offers little once an opponent closes inside its reach, so it favours fighters who can maintain distance rather than ones drawn into a grapple.
