Twin Tessen Fans

A matched pair of folding fans built around a core of hidden iron ribs rather than ordinary bamboo, letting them serve as a genuine defensive guard against a bladed strike while remaining, when closed, an entirely unremarkable accessory. Opened, the reinforced edge can deliver a surprisingly sharp strike of its own.

Their concealment is their greatest strength - almost nobody expects a fan to be a weapon at all - though their reach and stopping power are both modest compared to a dedicated blade, limiting them mostly to defence and surprise openings.
